Anatomy
Functional Anatomy teaches students to locate and identify all musculo-skeletal structures relevant to movement and exercise. Detailed study of the bones, connective tissues and muscles will complement postural assessment, muscle testing/palpation and analysis of human movement. Some time will be spent understanding how muscles are layered one on top of the other and how they work togehter to create movement. Other pathologies of the body will be reviewed; respiratory, circulatory, and nervous system. The objective is to provide students with a clear understanding of how all the body systems work together to achieve movement.
The course format will be comprised of lecture, discussion and practical sessions that involve visual & manual identification of body structures. Our goal is to provide the student with a fuctional learning environment. This course is designed with the mind/body health practitioner in mind, but is open to anyone wanting to know more about the human body.
